First Grade is "EGGcellent"

Spring is here! Well not really in Idaho...it hailed, rained, and snowed today.

I was lucky to have my husbands family come in and help with centers today. One center was creating these cute eggs. Two students were absent hence the bare eggs..they will make it up!

I got the idea from a MAILbox magazine.
1. Bend the pipe cleaner in the shape that you want.
2. Dip into the paint.
3. Press onto your egg.
4. Let dry!

HERE is the template that I used, I copied onto colored construction paper. Another idea would be white eggs and use colored paint. Enjoy :)

Mental Images

One of my favorite mental image lessons is with the book Miss. Nelson is Missing!
After seeing Fabulous in Firsts blog post on her mental image worksheets I dug mine out. Here it is... I don't have a scanner and I didn't have the exact ws saved so I created a new one hence the different fonts.

First use sticky notes to cover Miss Viola Swamps face and body throughout the whole book. Next read the story Miss. Nelson is Missing by James Marshall. Then have your students draw what their mental image of Miss Viola looked like. Share with the class if desired and reveal the images of her in the story. My kids thought it was funny!
